Shadow Priest guide
Shadow priests, capable of offering substansial damage, constant group healing and dishing out free mana to the group aswell.
Talents
There are 2 main talent builds that people use, my prefered spec is 13/0/48.
Some people like to mix up the build with a 13/0/48, this generaly looses silence, a small amount of improved MB or MB and the impoved crit on SW:D and MB, and in my case, spirit tap.

Loosing spirit tap is a bold choise to make for a priest, its one of the BIG buffs that can help with mana regen. But i find that for that during most long boss fights, your mainly focusing on one mob, therefor eliminating the need for a chance to recieve a spirit bonus.
This also allows you to keep the 10% stun chance, which can be quite usefull for trash mobs, grinding and PvP.
The spell rotation for boss fights for this build is: VT, SW:P, VE [all those can be applied in 2.5 seconds] mind blast, SW:D, mind faryx2 and repeat, reapplying DoT's when nessisery.
This build generaly focuses on endurance fights.
We use mind fary mainly becuase its rediculesly cheap to cast, with decent gear deals 600-800damage per tic and with the VT, meditaionand numerus other buffs [BoW and mana steam totems] you can almost always recover all your mana from that cast.
The 0/0/61 build gives you a very versitial character to play, with silence, impoved crit on your MB and SW:D, this build makes it possible to grind effectivly and still deal great damage in boss fights.

Summery
0/0/61 - makes it easyer to PvP, gring and quest quickly, but less endurance than 13/0/48 in boss fights
13/0/48 - Much better endurance in boss fights, you loose silence and spirit tap
The gear
What you should be lookingfor in gear:-
Shadow/spell damage: the more the better, as a s.priest, you will rely on your + damage alot in order to keep up with pure dps classes in the raid.
Spell hit rating :- another vital aspect of your gear, this reduces the chance that an enemy will resist your spells, which costs you mana! Also, the more spell hit you have, the less likely it is that an enemy will break out of your shackle undead and mind control. You should look for about 75-80 spell hit rating on your gear as you gain the rest from your talents! (eat that locks! =o)
Stamina and intellect :- as a clothy class, you need to buff up your hp a little for PvE as the bosses more than likly will want to hit you as much as the tank, i recomend around 7500-8000 hp unbuffed, anymore and your hindering your potensial spelldamage, any less and you can be making AOE spell bosses very difficult
Intelect, obviously a vital part of your gear, you should be looking at having at least 8000 mana unbuffed, 9000 idealy. But, if you're like me and love to buff up spelldamage in your kit, you can use a flask to buff int by 65 ;] (only do so if your spell damage is over kill for that encounter).
Spirit:- not really a vital one, but if your spec'ed 13/0/48, it can be very usfull for mana regen [especialy after patch 2.4 made spirit useful].
Spell crit:- YOU DO NOT NEED THIS! If you see kit with spell crit on it, there is probably the equivelent priece of kit with + spell hit rating or extra spell damage. Crit is for mages, desto locks and boomkin dr00ds, s.priests use DoT's and mind fary primarily, and you dont really need to crit with those, and the ones you Do crit with (mind blast and SW:D) you are probably speced to increase crit by 12-15%, anything more than 10% crit ist jsut not needed! So replace the crit with some hit! Is my moto..[altho, keeping your crit to around 8.5-10% cant hurt *wink* any more than that and its overkill]
